Quick Answers
What is the Summa F-Series?
The F-Series is Summa's professional flatbed cutting system: six base models sharing a modular platform with triple-head design (three tool modules working together), 15+ interchangeable tools, and built-in workflow automation. Process rigid boards, flexible roll media, and technical textiles on the same machine. Best for sign and display professionals, packaging operations, textile producers, and industrial fabricators who need precision and flexibility in one machine.
What's the difference between F-Series models?
All six models share the same modular platform, speed (1000 mm/sec), and tool compatibility. The differences are working area size, add-on availability, and application optimization. F1612 is the most compact with single-phase power option. F1625 offers tandem workflow for continuous production. F1432 specializes in reflective materials and 54" roll widths. F1832 is the all-rounder for signage, packaging, and textiles. F3220 matches 3.2m textile printer output. F3232 offers maximum cutting surface for high-production environments.
What materials can the F-Series cut?
With 15+ tools across four module types, the F-Series processes 100+ materials: adhesive vinyl, foam board, corrugated board, PVC, acrylic, aluminum composite (Dibond), MDF, wood, technical textiles, reflective sheeting, magnetic media, canvas, banner fabrics, and more. Material capability depends on which modules and tools are configured. Our team can help match tooling to your specific applications.
What's the difference between F-Series and V-Series?
Both are Summa flatbed cutters, but they serve different workflows. F-Series is Summa-native with textile capability (rotary module for cutting fabrics), conveyor-based roll processing, and industrial-scale production focus. V-Series (Valiani heritage) is optimized for packaging and display work with sheet-fed automation options and specialized features like V-cutting (angled grooves that allow rigid materials to fold cleanly) for display stands. Contact us to discuss which platform fits your applications.
Do I need 3-phase power?
Most F-Series models require 3-phase 208V power. However, the F1612 uniquely offers a single-phase option. Easier installation, no converter needed, lower electrical costs. If your facility only has single-phase power, the F1612 is your entry point to the F-Series platform.
What is F Performance mode?
F Performance mode is a productivity feature on all Summa F-Series flatbed cutters that boosts output by up to 40% with faster cutting head movements and quicker material feeding. The impact is most noticeable during kiss-cutting (cutting through the top layer while leaving the backing intact). Complete jobs nearly twice as fast while maintaining the same precision and quality.
Can the F-Series integrate with roll cutters?
Yes. Twin Workflow combines a Summa F-Series flatbed with a Summa S-Series roll cutter. Kiss-cut on the roll cutter, then cut through on the flatbed, using the right machine for each step. This workflow is especially powerful for high-volume vinyl graphics production.
Why buy from Flatbed Tools?
Expert configuration guidance through the F-Series' many options, professional installation and comprehensive training, decades of materials cutting expertise across all major platforms (Zund, Kongsberg, Multicam), fast consumables delivery, and responsive service that actually shows up when you need it.

Every F-Series cutter shares the same core technology platform. Here's what makes the F-Series a cut above.
Triple-Head Multifunctional Design
The F-Series multifunctional head holds up to three modules at once, enabling seamless multi-technique workflows. Switch between cutting, creasing, routing, and perforating without stopping production. The central unit includes a positioning laser and integrated camera system for fast, accurate contour-cutting mark recognition.
Automatic Device Calibration (ADC)
Automatic Device Calibration (ADC) takes the guesswork out of tool changes. It accurately measures the tip of your knife or bit and automatically sets the cutting depth to match the table's surface. Flawless cuts, minimal setup time, less operator intervention. Both ADC left and ADC right are included with every F-Series model.
Automatic Tool Recognition
Tools feature barcode identifiers that ensure automatic recognition and parameter settings. Install a tool, and the system instantly identifies it and loads the correct settings. Streamlined workflow with minimal manual input—reducing setup errors and operator training requirements.
F Performance Mode
Boost productivity by up to 40%. F Performance mode delivers faster cutting head movements and significantly quicker material feeding. The impact is most noticeable with kiss-cutting operations—complete jobs nearly twice as fast while maintaining the same exceptional precision and quality.
GoProduce Workflow Software
Developed in-house by Summa, GoProduce powers every F-Series cutter. Simple to use from day one, yet packed with powerful features: Material Manager for substrate settings, custom action sets, barcode functionality (Pro Pack), compensation modes, smart sorting, and automated material recognition. Included with every F-Series.
Advanced Safety System
Delivered with all F-Series models, the Advanced Safety System guarantees a safe work environment compliant with worldwide health and safety requirements (CSA, ISO 9001). Mounted on the top beam for easy table access, maximizing production efficiency without compromising operator safety.
Camera System & Mark Recognition
Integrated high-resolution camera system enables fast, accurate contour-cutting mark recognition (detecting printed registration marks to cut precisely around graphics). Supports barcode workflow for automatic job identification—scan a barcode and the system retrieves the matching cut file automatically. Hand scanner option available for flexible job switching.

Built-In Workflow Automation
Operator Zone
Split working area into cutting zone and safe operator zone. Conveyor moves cut materials forward for safe access without interrupting production.
Tandem Workflow
Divide flatbed into front and rear working zones. Load/unload material on one end while cutting continues on the other. Eliminates idle time between jobs.
Barcode Workflow
Barcodes printed with OPOS marks (optical positioning marks for print-to-cut alignment) identify jobs and retrieve cut data automatically. Built-in camera for hands-free operation or hand scanner for flexible job switching. Included in GoProduce Pro Pack.
F Performance Mode
40% productivity boost with faster head movements and material feeding. Complete kiss-cutting jobs nearly twice as fast while maintaining precision.
Twin Workflow — F-Series + S-Series Integration
Boost productivity and flexibility by combining a Summa F-Series flatbed cutter with an S-Series roll cutter. Kiss-cut on the roll cutter, then cut through on the flatbed, using the right machine for each step.
- → Roll cutter handles high-volume kiss-cutting with legendary tracking accuracy
- → Flatbed handles precision through-cutting and finishing
- → Smooth workflow between machines
- → Get more out of both machines
This workflow is especially powerful for high-volume vinyl graphics, vehicle wrap production, and operations where kiss-cutting and through-cutting volumes justify dedicated equipment for each. We can help you evaluate whether Twin Workflow makes sense for your production volumes.
