Quick Answers

What is the Summa F-Series?

The F-Series is Summa's professional flatbed cutting system: six base models sharing a modular platform with triple-head design (three tool modules working together), 15+ interchangeable tools, and built-in workflow automation. Process rigid boards, flexible roll media, and technical textiles on the same machine. Best for sign and display professionals, packaging operations, textile producers, and industrial fabricators who need precision and flexibility in one machine.

What's the difference between F-Series models?

All six models share the same modular platform, speed (1000 mm/sec), and tool compatibility. The differences are working area size, add-on availability, and application optimization. F1612 is the most compact with single-phase power option. F1625 offers tandem workflow for continuous production. F1432 specializes in reflective materials and 54" roll widths. F1832 is the all-rounder for signage, packaging, and textiles. F3220 matches 3.2m textile printer output. F3232 offers maximum cutting surface for high-production environments.

What materials can the F-Series cut?

With 15+ tools across four module types, the F-Series processes 100+ materials: adhesive vinyl, foam board, corrugated board, PVC, acrylic, aluminum composite (Dibond), MDF, wood, technical textiles, reflective sheeting, magnetic media, canvas, banner fabrics, and more. Material capability depends on which modules and tools are configured. Our team can help match tooling to your specific applications.

What's the difference between F-Series and V-Series?

Both are Summa flatbed cutters, but they serve different workflows. F-Series is Summa-native with textile capability (rotary module for cutting fabrics), conveyor-based roll processing, and industrial-scale production focus. V-Series (Valiani heritage) is optimized for packaging and display work with sheet-fed automation options and specialized features like V-cutting (angled grooves that allow rigid materials to fold cleanly) for display stands. Contact us to discuss which platform fits your applications.

Do I need 3-phase power?

Most F-Series models require 3-phase 208V power. However, the F1612 uniquely offers a single-phase option. Easier installation, no converter needed, lower electrical costs. If your facility only has single-phase power, the F1612 is your entry point to the F-Series platform.

What is F Performance mode?

F Performance mode is a productivity feature on all Summa F-Series flatbed cutters that boosts output by up to 40% with faster cutting head movements and quicker material feeding. The impact is most noticeable during kiss-cutting (cutting through the top layer while leaving the backing intact). Complete jobs nearly twice as fast while maintaining the same precision and quality.

Can the F-Series integrate with roll cutters?

Yes. Twin Workflow combines a Summa F-Series flatbed with a Summa S-Series roll cutter. Kiss-cut on the roll cutter, then cut through on the flatbed, using the right machine for each step. This workflow is especially powerful for high-volume vinyl graphics production.

Why buy from Flatbed Tools?

Expert configuration guidance through the F-Series' many options, professional installation and comprehensive training, decades of materials cutting expertise across all major platforms (Zund, Kongsberg, Multicam), fast consumables delivery, and responsive service that actually shows up when you need it.
