Summa S One Roll Cutter

Quick Answers

What is the Summa S One?

The S One is Summa's value-focused roll cutter line, offering professional drag knife cutting with up to 600 grams of force. It uses OPOS optical alignment for precise contour cutting of printed graphics and includes features like FlexCut through-cutting (perforated cuts that snap apart), barcode job automation, and Summa's legendary tracking accuracy. All at a price point designed for growing businesses.

Who is the S One designed for?

Sign shops, print-and-cut operations, vehicle graphics installers, and label producers who need reliable, professional-quality cutting without the cost of tangential technology. The S One is ideal for businesses cutting vinyl, heat transfer, window graphics, laminated prints, and labels.

What materials can the S One cut?

Adhesive vinyl, heat transfer vinyl (flex is smooth, flock is textured), window films, laminated prints, reflective vinyl, labels, stickers, and sandblast stencil (with optional sandblast blade). The S One handles media thickness from 0.002" to 0.010", covering the vast majority of sign and graphics applications. Our team can help you select the right blade angles for your material mix.

What's the difference between S One models?

All Summa S One models share the same cutting technology, speed (44 ips), and features. The difference is cutting width. The D60 (24") and D75 (30") are compact models ideal for desktop or limited floor space. The D120 (48"), D140 (54"), and D160 (64") handle progressively wider media for larger-format work. Choose the width that matches your typical print output.

What about the D140 FX variant?

The D140 FX has fixed pinch roller positions (the wheels that grip and feed media) instead of adjustable rollers. It accepts any media width but can't minimize margins like the standard D140. It also has slightly lower cutting force (400g vs 600g). The FX is best for shops with moderate workloads who primarily use standard media widths and don't need edge-to-edge cutting.

Key Features

OPOS Alignment System

Summa's optical positioning system automatically locates printed registration marks (printed targets for cut alignment) and aligns cut paths to your graphics. Critical for accurate print-and-cut work. OPOS Xtra adds extra measurement lines to compensate for material deformation, especially helpful for small sticker jobs where precision matters. We'll calibrate OPOS and train your team on alignment workflows during installation.

FlexCut Through-Cutting

Cut simple designs completely through the material with Summa's FlexCut feature. It alternates between full cuts and half-cuts to create a perforated line. The material stays rigid during transport but tears apart easily. Good for kiss-cut stickers and labels that need to separate cleanly.

Ergonomic Touchscreen

Intuitive menu with a touch interface for easy navigation. Large display shows job information, cutting parameters, and status at a glance. Blue-highlighted parts make adjustments and tool changes easy to spot.

Legendary Tracking

Summa's exclusive MicroSprocket™ drive drum with powerful servo motors delivers reliable accuracy over long runs. Up to 26 feet of guaranteed tracking on media under 30" wide. Titanium-coated grit rollers (textured drive wheels) condition media as it advances for consistent precision job after job.

GoSign Cutting Software

Production software included with every S One. Create custom settings and action sets tailored to your specific jobs. Includes plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and MacSign for smooth workflow from design to cut.

Barcode Automation

Process multiple jobs without operator intervention using OPOS Barcode. The sensor reads printed barcodes, retrieves the matching cut file, and starts cutting automatically. When one job finishes, the cutter looks for the next barcode, freeing up your team for other work.
