Direct OEM replacement

The K28 is a confirmed drop-in replacement for the Zund Z28 (3910318), Esko BLD-SF428 (i-428 / G42458307), Gerber MCT SE28 (895028), Summa L25 (500-9814), and Colex T00425. Same form, same fit, same geometry. No holder modification required.

What is through cutting?

Through cutting means the blade cuts completely through all layers of the material, including any backing or liner. The cut piece separates fully from the sheet. This is not a kiss cut blade. It is built for jobs where you need a clean, complete cut through the full thickness of the material.

Tungsten carbide for thick, demanding materials

The K28 is made from fine grain tungsten carbide, which holds a sharp edge longer than standard steel in thick, abrasive substrates. With a maximum cutting depth of 1.023in (26.0mm), it handles corrugated board, foam, honeycomb, carpet, and other demanding materials where a standard blade would dull quickly or deflect under load.

Common questions

How do I know this fits my machine?

If your machine currently uses a Zund Z28 (3910318), Esko BLD-SF428, Gerber MCT SE28 (895028), Summa L25 (500-9814), or Colex T00425, the K28 is the direct replacement. Not sure? Contact us before ordering and we will confirm the fit.

What materials does it cut?

The K28 is rated for corrugated board, foamboard, folding carton, felt, leather, display board, foam rubber, carpet, sandwich board, honeycomb, sandblasting mask, PET acoustic felt, varnish blankets, and 3M VHB. For thinner or more delicate materials where you need precise depth control without going fully through, a different blade geometry may be a better fit. Not sure what you need? Reach out.

What do the cutting angle and wedge angle mean?

The K28 features a 45 degree cutting angle and an 86 degree wedge angle. The 45 degree cutting angle helps the blade track smoothly through the material with reduced drag, while the 86 degree wedge angle provides the ideal balance of sharpness and edge durability. Together, they deliver clean cuts, solid detail reproduction, and consistent performance in demanding production environments.

How do I know when to replace it?

Watch for drag when entering the material, ragged edges on the cut, or material tearing rather than cutting clean. On thick or dense substrates, the blade may also start to deflect or wander off path. Any of those are good indicators it is time to swap. Do not wait for the blade to fail mid-job on a critical run.

Getting the most from your cutting table

A fresh blade is a good start. But if you are going through blades faster than expected, or cut quality has become inconsistent, the blade is rarely the whole story. Cut depth, speed, pressure, and machine condition all affect how long a blade lasts and how clean it cuts.

It is worth asking: When was your machine last serviced? Are your parameters dialed in for this material? Is this the right blade geometry for what you are cutting? Could your operators use time with someone who runs these machines every day?

Flatbed Tools offers machine service, preventive maintenance, operator training, and workflow consulting. If something is not cutting right, reach out. We have probably seen it before.
