Summa F Series Vantage Flatbed Cutting Systems

Summa logo Authorized Summa Dealer

Six models. One platform. Faster from job to job.

Cutting time is the small part of a production day. Setup, calibration, tool changes, and job switching eat the rest. The F Series Vantage was built to cut all of it, and the platform now runs from a 63" x 47" table that fits a small shop to a 128" x 126" tandem production table, plus a dedicated dry carbon fiber configuration.

Every model shares the same cutting platform: 1,000 mm/s (40 ips), acceleration to 1 G, ± 0.05 mm repeatability, three module positions, Fast+ and Core+ tangential modules, a 3.7 kW router at 60,000 RPM, a non-contact ultrasonic thickness sensor, and 3D blade calibration that runs without operator input. What changes between models is working area, media width, vacuum layout, and power.

All six are available to order through Flatbed Tools. We configure, install, train, and service them.

What Changed From the F Series 4X

Summa benchmarked the F1625 Vantage against the outgoing F1625 4X on the same production files.

Job type F1625 4X F1625 Vantage Faster by
Complex file, many tool lifts, 1 tool 18:11 9:34 90%
Standard production file, 1 tool 6:57 4:44 47%
Kiss-cut plus through-cut, 2 tools 13:36 9:22 45%

Summa's marketing uses 40%. On detail-heavy work you're closer to double. Six changes account for it.

Fast+ module doubles vertical speed.

400 mm/s up and down, 2 G, versus 200 mm/s and 0.8 G on the Core+ and the old module. On a file with hundreds of lifts, that's where the 90% comes from.

Non-contact ultrasonic thickness sensor.

Measures the material before every job without touching it, sets the tool lift to that height, and removes the most common cause of blade breaks.

3D Automatic Device Calibration.

Profiles the blade in three dimensions, tracks wear, and compensates during the run. No test cuts on media.

Module and tool ID.

Every module carries an ID chip and every tool a barcode. Mount it and the table loads the right parameters and flags a wrong setup before it cuts.

Ethernet motion control.

USB is gone. New firmware and Ethernet communication cut unnecessary movement between vectors.

3.7 kW high-frequency router.

The 4X ran 1.4 kW. The Vantage HF router runs 3.7 kW (5 HP) at 60,000 RPM with water cooling, twice the spindle speed of the standard router and up to four times faster in rigid materials. Aluminum to 3 mm with the optional oil mister.

F Series Vantage Platform Features, All Six Models

Three module positions. Run cutting, creasing, routing, and perforating in one job without stopping. The fixed center unit carries an Ethernet camera with active cooling, the thickness sensor, and a positioning laser.

Fast+ and Core+ modules. Two versatile tangential modules that take the full tool library. Fast+ for vinyl, flexible media, and light board where cut time is driven by tool lifts. Core+ for kiss-cutting, creasing, V-cuts, rigid cutouts, and oscillating blades, with 20 kg (44 lb) of downforce.

GoProduce. Included with every model. Material Manager with 100-plus presets, Action Sets that run a full job sequence in one click, barcode workflow with the built-in camera or a hand scanner, and file support for ZCC, iCut, CF2, and HP/GL, so files from other cutting systems come straight over. Most new operators are running production in under an hour.

Operator Mode and Tandem Mode. Standard on every unit. Operator Mode splits the table into a cutting zone and a safe loading zone. Tandem Mode, on models with two vacuum rows, cuts one half while you load the other.

Open integration. Ethernet to 50-plus supported RIPs. GoConnect links the table to printers, feeders, robots, MIS, and ERP through an open API. GoData reports production numbers. GoCare gives our technicians live access to onboard maintenance status.

LED status bar. Built into the cutting axis. Readiness and job state visible from across the floor.

Extension tables. Front, rear, or 50/50 configurations for loading and offloading.

Heavy Duty Roll Support. Optional on every model. Rolls to 440 lb (200 kg).

Safety. ANSI/UL 62368-1, CAN/CSA C22.2 62368-1, FCC Class A, CE. Industrial E-stops with a faster restart sequence after a safety trip.

Summa F Series Vantage Questions

What is the Summa F Series Vantage?

Summa's current flatbed cutting platform. Six models share one architecture: three module positions, Fast+ and Core+ tangential modules, a 3.7 kW high-frequency router, 3D blade calibration, and a non-contact ultrasonic thickness sensor. It replaced the F Series 4X. Working areas run from 63" x 47" (F1612) to 128.5" x 126" (F3232), and the F1625 CF is a configuration built for dry carbon fiber.

What are the six models?

Three in the 63" to 65" media width class: F1612 (63" x 47.2"), F1625 (63" x 98.4"), and F1625 CF (same table as the F1625 with carbon fiber protection). Three large-format: F1832 (72.2" x 126", 74.8" media), F3220 (128.5" x 82.7", 130.7" media), and F3232 (128.5" x 126", 130.7" media).

Which model cuts a full 4x8 sheet? A full 5x10?

The F1625 holds a 4' x 8' sheet on its 63" x 98.4" table. The F1832 holds a 5' x 10' sheet or a full ACM plate on its 72.2" x 126" table. The F3232 does both with room to run a second job on the other half of the table.

What is the F1625 CF?

An F1625 built for dry carbon fiber cutting. Carbon dust conducts electricity and eventually shorts out an unprotected table. The CF has coated circuit boards, an electrical cabinet held under negative pressure so air flows out rather than in, and shielded connectors on the module heads. It adds an 8.2 ft conveyor extension for long nests and connects nesting software to kitting and picking through GoConnect.

Do I need 3-phase power?

Five of the six models run on 3-phase 208 V. The F1612 is the exception, with a single-phase 240 V, 30 A option for US installs. If you're in a building without 3-phase and need a larger table, Summa recommends a rotary converter rather than a static one because of the vacuum pump load. We'll spec it with you.

Can I use my existing F Series 4X tools and modules?

Most tangential tools carry over. The 4X tangential modules run on the Vantage at 4X performance. Fast+ modules are Vantage-only. Router, drag, and rotary modules are not cross-compatible. GoProduce detects which table it's connected to. Call us before you order an upgrade; the carry-over list changes the quote.

How much faster is the Vantage than the 4X?

Summa's benchmark on the F1625: 45% to 90% faster depending on how many tool lifts the file has. Complex files with many lifts saw 90%; standard production files saw 45% to 47%.

Which model is right for a 3.2 m printer?

The F3220 if you mostly run textile and banner with some board work and want the shorter table. The F3232 if you want tandem workflow, so one job cuts while the next loads, or you run oversized rigid panels.
