Summa F Series VANTAGE Flatbed Cutting Systems

Summa logo Authorized Summa Dealer

The Next Generation F Series. Built for the Entire Workflow.

Everyone talks about cutting speed. The F Series Vantage was built around a different problem: on most production floors, actual cutting accounts for less than 20% of production time. The rest is setup, calibration, tool changes, job switching, and the small errors that turn into scrapped material and lost hours.

The F Series Vantage is designed to compress all of it. New modules that move twice as fast, a non-contact sensor that eliminates blade breaks before they happen, 3D blade calibration that runs without operator input, and a 3.7kW router that outperforms what Zund and Colex ship in this class.

The F1612 and F1625 are available to order now, shipping July 2026.

Summa F Series Vantage Flatbed Cutting System

Quick Answers

What is the Summa F Series Vantage?

The F Series Vantage is Summa's next-generation flatbed cutting platform. Two models share a common modular architecture with triple-head design, upgraded Fast+ and Core+ tangential modules, a 3.7kW high-frequency router, next-gen 3D ADC blade calibration, and a non-contact ultrasonic media thickness sensor. It replaces the F Series 4X and is designed to cut more materials, run faster across the complete workflow, and get new operators productive in under an hour. Best for sign shops, packaging producers, textile operations, and industrial fabricators who need precision, versatility, and consistent output.

What's the difference between the F Series Vantage and the previous F Series?

The previous generation (F Series 4X) was a capable platform. The Vantage rebuilds everything around the workflow, not just the cutting head. New Fast+ and Core+ modules double the up/down speed and downforce. A non-contact ultrasonic thickness sensor measures material before every job, eliminating the most common cause of blade breaks. Next-gen 3D ADC profiles your blade automatically and compensates for wear without operator input. Updated electronics and motion control eliminate unnecessary movements throughout the cutting path. And the router went from 1.4kW to 3.7kW at 60,000 RPM.

Real-world testing comparing the F1625 Vantage against the outgoing F1625 4X on actual production files showed job times cut by 45 to 90% depending on job complexity. The 40% productivity figure Summa uses in their marketing is the conservative floor.

What's the difference between F Series Vantage models?

Both models share the same cutting platform, speed, tool compatibility, and module options. The differences are working area, vacuum zone count, and power options.

F1612: Most compact footprint. Single-phase power available (240V, 30A, US only). The right choice if your facility doesn't have 3-phase. No converter needed, lower electrical installation cost.

F1625: Longest bed in the 63" media width class. Handles 4x8 rigid sheets and roll in the same workflow.

What materials can the F Series Vantage cut?

With three module positions and a tool library that includes the new Rigid Material Cutout Tool, High Precision Cutout Tool, upgraded Electronic Oscillating Tool, and 3.7kW HF router, the F Series Vantage handles 100+ materials: adhesive vinyl, banner, reflective sheeting, magnetic media, foam PVC, corrugated board, foamboard, acrylic, polycarbonate, ACM/ACP (Dibond), MDF, plywood, technical textiles, canvas, woven polyester, honeycomb board, rubber, foam up to 42mm thick, and more. Material capability depends on module and tool configuration. We walk through tooling selection during every quoting process.

What are Fast+ and Core+ modules?

These are the two new versatile tangential modules introduced with the Vantage, replacing the previous generation's single versatile module.

Fast+ module: Doubles vertical up/down speed and acceleration compared to the 4X. Built for intricate designs, fine detail work, and flexible or light board materials where cut time is driven by how many times the tool lifts.

Core+ module: The high-pressure option. Handles kiss-cutting, creasing, V-cuts, rigid cutouts, and oscillating blades for thicker substrates. High downforce with broad tool compatibility.

Both modules accept the full tool library and switch tools without stopping production. Every module has an ID chip. Install it and the machine reads it, calibrates, and is ready.

Do I need 3-phase power?

Most F Series Vantage models require 3-phase 208V power. The F1612 is the only model with a single-phase option (240V, 30A, US only). No converter needed, lower electrical installation cost. All models are compatible with both 50Hz and 60Hz systems.

Can I use my existing F Series tools and modules on a Vantage?

Most tangential tools from the 4X carry over. Kiss-cut, corrugated, and other standard tools work on the Vantage. The 4X tangential modules also work on the Vantage at 4X performance specs. The new Fast+ modules are Vantage-only. Router modules, the Drag module, and the High Torque Rotary module are not cross-compatible between 4X and Vantage. GoProduce detects which machine it's connected to and adjusts automatically.

What Changed

The F Series 4X was a proven platform. The Vantage rebuilds what surrounds the cutting: every stage of the workflow from job setup to finished piece.

Summa benchmarked the F1625 Vantage directly against the outgoing F1625 4X on real production files.

Summa F Series Vantage triple-head cutting system
Job Type F1625 4X F1625 Vantage Improvement
Complex file, many tool lifts (1 tool) 18:11 9:34 90% faster
Standard production file (1 tool) 6:57 4:44 47% faster
Kiss-cut + through-cut (2 tools) 13:36 9:22 45% faster

The 40% productivity figure in Summa's marketing is the conservative number. On complex detail work, you're looking at close to double the output.

Six improvements account for the gap.

Up/down speed doubled.

The Fast+ module moves vertically at 15.7 inches/sec, up from 7.8 in the 4X. Every tool lift in a complex file gets faster. On files with hundreds of lifts, the time savings add up fast.

Non-contact ultrasonic media thickness sensor.

The Vantage measures your material's actual thickness before every job, ultrasonically, without touching it. The tool lifts exactly as far as it needs to, nothing more. Eliminates the most common cause of blade breaks and shaves time off every cut cycle.

Next-gen 3D ADC.

Automatic Device Calibration now profiles your blade in three dimensions, compensates for wear automatically, and recognizes blade type without operator input. No test cuts on media. Consistent cut quality from the first job to the last, regardless of who's running it.

Updated electronics and motion control.

Switching from USB to high-speed Ethernet communication, paired with new firmware, reduces unnecessary movement throughout the cutting path. The result is cleaner motion, faster vector transitions, and less wasted time.

Module/Tool ID recognition.

Every module and Tool has an ID barcode. Swap a module and the machine identifies it instantly, loading correct parameters. No manual setup, no risk of running the wrong settings.

3.7kW High-Frequency Router.

The 4X ran a 1.4kW router. The Vantage runs 3.7kW at up to 60,000 RPM with active cooling included. It puts the F Series ahead of what Zund and Colex ship in this class for routing power.

Modules & Tools

Every F Series Vantage runs the same module architecture and tool library. Three module positions, two versatile module options, four single-tool modules, and 15+ tools across every cutting technique. What you configure depends on what you cut.

Modules and tools can be added at any time. Our team walks through module and tool selection during every quoting process and helps you plan for what you'll need as your production grows.

Key Platform Features: All F Series Vantage Models

Every F Series Vantage shares the same core technology platform. Here is what sets it apart.

Triple-Head Multifunctional Design

Three module positions run simultaneously. Switch between cutting, creasing, routing, and perforating without stopping production. The central unit includes a positioning laser and integrated ethernet-connected camera for fast, accurate contour-cutting mark recognition.

Next-Gen Automatic Device Calibration (ADC)

3D blade profiling: full geometry, not just depth. ADC measures blade wear automatically and compensates throughout the run, so cut quality stays consistent without test cuts or operator adjustments. This level of calibration is unique to Summa in this class.

Non-Contact Ultrasonic Media Thickness Sensor

Measures your material's actual thickness before every job without touching it. Sets tool lift height precisely, eliminating the most common cause of blade breaks and cutting unnecessary lift time from every job cycle. Unique to the Vantage platform.

Fast+ and Core+ Tangential Modules

Two versatile module options with distinct performance profiles. Fast+ doubles vertical speed and acceleration for complex detail work. Core+ delivers high downforce for heavier cutting, creasing, and oscillating tool applications. Both accept the full tool library.

Automatic Tool and Module Recognition

Every module has an ID chip. Every tool has a barcode. Install either one and the machine identifies it, loads correct parameters, and flags incorrect setups before they happen. Reduces operator errors and shortens training time.

GoProduce Workflow Software

GoProduce and the previous Axis Control application are now one. Material Manager covers 100+ substrate presets. Action Sets execute complete job sequences with one click. Barcode workflow routes jobs hands-free. Included with every F Series Vantage. Most new operators are production-ready in under an hour.

LED Status Bar

Built into the cutting axis. Shows machine readiness and job status at a glance from across the floor. Operators know the machine state without walking to a screen.

F Performance Mode

40% productivity boost available across all models. Faster cutting head movements and quicker material feeding. Most noticeable on kiss-cutting and complex files with many tool lifts. Jobs run close to twice as fast while maintaining full precision.

GoConnect / GoData / GoCare

GoConnect links the machine to printers, RIPs, feeders, MIS platforms, and automation systems. No proprietary lock-ins, no closed ecosystem. GoData delivers real-time production analytics with open API access. GoCare gives technicians direct access to onboard metrics and maintenance status for proactive uptime management.

Advanced Safety System

CSA and ISO 9001 compliant. Industrial-grade E-stops and improved restart sequences mean the machine recovers faster after a safety trip without compromising operator protection. External safety equipment connection supported.

40% productivity boost on kiss-cutting and high-lift-count work. Faster head movements and material feeding, same precision.

Twin Workflow: F Series Vantage + S Series Integration

Combine an F Series Vantage with a Summa S Series roll cutter and you have a production workflow that uses the right machine for every step. Kiss-cut on the roll cutter, then finish through-cuts and routing on the flatbed.

  • + Roll cutter handles high-volume kiss-cutting with Summa's proven tracking accuracy
  • + Flatbed handles precision through-cutting, routing, and finishing
  • + Clean job handoff between machines
  • + More output from both platforms

This setup makes the most sense for high-volume vinyl graphics, vehicle wrap production, and operations where the volume of kiss-cutting and through-cutting justifies dedicated equipment for each. We can help you evaluate whether Twin Workflow is right for your production volumes.
