Summa F1625 CF Vantage Flatbed Cutting System for Dry Carbon Fiber

Summa logo Authorized Summa Dealer

Ply cutting for dry carbon fiber, built so the dust can't reach the electronics.

Carbon fiber dust conducts electricity. On a standard flatbed cutter it settles into the electrical cabinet and the module connectors, and sooner or later something shorts. The F1625 CF Vantage is Summa's answer: an F1625 Vantage built as a dedicated dry carbon fiber configuration, with coated circuit boards, an electrical cabinet held under negative pressure so air flows out rather than in, and shielded connectors on the module heads.

Underneath it's the same table: a 63" x 98.4" working area, 65" media width, 8 vacuum zones in two rows for tandem workflow, and the full Vantage platform at 1,000 mm/s with three module positions. The CF adds an 8.2 ft (2.5 m) conveyor extension with a picking area, and connects nesting software to kitting and picking through GoConnect so a nest comes off the table as labeled kits, not a pile. Flatbed Tools sells, installs, trains on, and services the F1625 CF, and stocks the blades and belts it runs.

Who the F1625 CF Vantage Is For

  • Composite part manufacturers cutting dry carbon fiber, glass fiber, and prepreg plies for aerospace, automotive, transportation, and marine work.
  • Shops that have been cutting plies by hand or on a cutter that wasn't built for conductive dust, and are paying for it in downtime.
  • Prototype and short-run composite operations that need nest-to-kit traceability without a full automated line.
  • Gasket and technical textile producers who run the same dusty, abrasive materials and want the same protection.

If carbon fiber is an occasional job rather than the main one, the standard F1625 Vantage is the same table without the protection package. If your plies run longer than 98", talk to us about the F1832 Vantage and what's possible at that length.

What the F1625 CF Vantage Cuts

Dry carbon fiber

Woven and unidirectional dry fabrics with the rotary knife module. The protection package exists for this material: conductive dust stays out of the electronics.

Prepreg and glass fiber

Prepreg plies with drag and tangential tools. Glass fiber and aramid fabrics with the rotary module.

Cores and gaskets

Foam cores and honeycomb with the Power EOT and pneumatic oscillating tools to 42 mm. Gasket sheet and rubber on the Core+ module.

Technical textiles

Woven polyester, canvas, and industrial fabrics with the rotary knife module.

F1625 CF Vantage Modules and Tools

The F1625 CF ships with the drag knife module, the camera module, and ADC on both edges. For ply cutting the rotary knife module is the one to configure first:

  • Rotary knife module for dry carbon fiber, glass fiber, and technical textiles. Decagonal blade, low horizontal force so the weave doesn't distort.
  • Core+ module for prepreg, gasket, and rigid cutout tools. 44 lb of downforce.
  • Fast+ module for light flexible materials where tool lifts set the pace.
  • Oscillating tools Power EOT to 16 mm, POT to 25 mm, and POT-L to 42 mm for foam cores and honeycomb.
  • Tools: kiss-cut, single and double edge cutout, heavy duty cutout to 15 mm, rigid material cutout to 8 mm, high precision cutout, V-cut, perforating, creasing wheels, universal pen holder for ply marking.

F Series modules and tools, with materials and thickness limits

Three module positions means three modules mounted at once. A typical F1625 CF runs the rotary knife, Core+, and a pen for ply identification, and never swaps during the shift. We'll build the tooling list with you during the quote.

Media Handling and Workflow on the F1625 CF

Standard on every F1625 CF: conveyor system with the 8.2 ft extension and picking area, pneumatic media clamps, clamp bar, roll support, vacuum table with automatic zone selection, camera with positioning laser, LED status bar.

Nesting to kitting. Nesting software feeds the cut file to GoProduce and the kit list to the picking area through GoConnect. Plies come off the extension already sorted by kit, with the pen holder marking each ply if you want it labeled on the material.

Tandem workflow. Two rows of vacuum zones split the table front and rear. Cut on one half, load the other, and the table alternates.

Barcode workflow. OPOS barcodes identify the job and pull the cut file, read by the built-in camera or a hand scanner. Included with GoProduce.

Open integration. GoConnect's API links the table to MES and ERP so ply cutting shows up in your production tracking. GoData reports run counts and utilization.

Optional: Heavy Duty Roll Support for rolls to 440 lb.

Summa F1625 CF Vantage Questions

What is the Summa F1625 CF Vantage?

An F1625 Vantage built as a dedicated configuration for dry carbon fiber cutting. It has coated circuit boards, an electrical cabinet held under negative pressure so air flows out rather than in, and shielded connectors on the module heads, so conductive carbon dust can't short the electronics. It adds an 8.2 ft conveyor extension with a picking area and a nesting-to-kitting workflow through GoConnect.

Why does carbon fiber dust matter?

Carbon fiber is conductive. Dust from cutting settles on circuit boards and inside connectors, and over time it bridges contacts and causes shorts. A standard flatbed cutter will cut carbon fiber; it won't keep doing it reliably. The CF package keeps the dust out.

Can I add the CF protection to a standard F1625 later?

The CF is a factory configuration. Ask us before assuming a standard table can be converted; the answer depends on what Summa can do with your serial number.

Does it cut prepreg?

Yes. Prepreg plies run with the drag and tangential tools on the Core+ module. Dry fabrics run on the rotary knife module. Both can be mounted at the same time.

How does the kitting workflow work?

Your nesting software sends the cut file to GoProduce and the kit list to the picking area through GoConnect. The conveyor moves cut plies onto the 8.2 ft extension, sorted by kit, and the pen holder can mark each ply on the material. The API also feeds MES or ERP so the cut shows up in production tracking.

How much floor space does the F1625 CF take?

The F1625 base is 97.7" wide by 135.4" deep by 42.4" high. Add 8.2 ft for the conveyor extension and picking area, plus room at the loading end. Summa has not yet published a combined footprint; we'll lay it out with you from the drawings.

What consumables does the F1625 CF use?

Rotary blades for the dry fabric module, tangential and drag blades for prepreg and gasket work, oscillating blades for cores, and a conveyor belt cut to the F1625's length plus the extension. Ask us about belt configuration for the CF.

Buying the F1625 CF Vantage From Flatbed Tools

Summa logo Authorized Summa Dealer: sales, installation, training, service

We install, maintain, move, and repair flatbed cutting systems from every major manufacturer, and we cut the belts and stock the blades those tables run on. Composite shops already run our blades and belts on other brands of ply cutter; the F1625 CF is the table we can now sell into that floor.

Every F1625 CF Vantage from Flatbed Tools includes delivery, installation, and on-site training on cutting, routing, GoProduce, and Action Sets. Free phone support comes with the purchase. When something goes wrong, we diagnose by phone first. Parts ship from Summa's US headquarters in Indianapolis or from our shop in Racine, same day before the afternoon cutoff, and many install with a phone call.
