Summa F-Series Modules & Tools
The Summa F-Series flatbed cutter is built around a multifunctional head that holds up to three cutting modules at once. Swap between materials mid-job, run multiple techniques in a single pass, or configure the machine specifically for your production type.
Every F-Series model; F1612, F1625, F1432, F1832, F3220, F3232, supports the same four modules and the same tool library. What you run depends on what you cut.
This page covers every module and tool available for the F-Series, what each one does, and what materials it handles. If you're not sure what your shop needs, that's what we're here for.
How the System Works
Automatic Tool Recognition
Every tool has a barcode ID. When you mount a tool, the machine identifies it and sets the correct parameters automatically. No manual input, no guesswork.
ADC - Automatic Device Calibration
Before cutting, ADC measures the tip of your knife or bit and sets the cutting depth to match the table surface exactly. It's the difference between a good cut and a wasted sheet. Tool changes are fast, calibration is hands-off, and depth accuracy is consistent across every run.
ADC Benefits
- •Easy tool changes
- •Automatic tool measuring
- •Consistent, flawless cuts
- •Less operator intervention
- •Faster setup time
Drag Module
Included standard on all F-Series models
The Drag Module handles kiss-cutting and drawing. It runs 600 grams of downforce and accepts two tools: the Drag Knife and the Pen Tool. You can mount multiple Drag Modules on the head simultaneously, so you can kiss-cut and draw in the same job without dismounting anything.
Best for: Paper under 200 gsm, adhesive vinyl, adhesive PVC banner vinyl.
Tools in the Drag Module
Drag Knife Tool
Fast, precise kiss-cutting for adhesive vinyl. The 600g downforce keeps the knife consistent across the cut without going through the liner.
Best for: Adhesive vinyl, adhesive PVC banner vinyl, paper under 200 gsm.
Pen Tool & Universal Pen Holder
Draws directly on material using Summa's fiber tip pens or most third-party pencils and pens. The Universal Pen Holder accepts a wide range of diameters, so you're not locked into one pen type.
Best for: Marking, notation, and drawing on any material the Drag Module handles.
Tangential Module
The workhorse of the F-Series: 11 tools, the widest material range
The Tangential Module runs Summa's True Tangential Technology, putting 10 kg of vertical force and 20 kg of horizontal force behind the blade. It accepts 11 different tools and handles the widest range of materials of any module in the F-Series system.
Every tool carries a barcode ID for automatic recognition and parameter setting. Mount a tool and the machine knows exactly what it's working with.
Tools in the Tangential Module
Kiss-Cut Tool
Designed for cutting through material down to its liner, not through it. Mechanically controlled knife pressure and an adjustable nose piece give you precise depth control up to 1.2 mm. Clean cuts, easy weeding.
Best for: Adhesive vinyl, window film, sandblast material, magnetic material, adhesive PVC banner material, paper under 200 gsm.
Single Edge Cutout Tool
A spring-loaded gliding disk lets this tool trace fine details accurately through material up to 6 mm thick. The disk can be locked at a fixed depth for consistent results across a run.
Best for: Folding carton 300-500 gsm, adhesive vinyl, adhesive PVC, magnetic material, foamboard up to 2 mm, paper under 200 gsm.
Double Edge Cutout Tool
Same spring-loaded disk as the Single Edge, but cuts on both sides of the knife. This reduces knife wear on rigid materials and keeps cuts clean through material up to 5 mm thick.
Best for: Folding carton, adhesive vinyl, adhesive PVC, PVC banner, reflective sheeting, polypropylene up to 1.2 mm, polycarbonate up to 0.6 mm, foam PVC up to 1.2 mm, magnetic material.
Heavy-Duty Cutout Tool
When the material gets thick, this is the tool. Handles material up to 15 mm without issue.
Best for: Folding carton, adhesive vinyl, adhesive PVC, PVC banner, foam PVC, foamcore with liner, corrugated PP board up to 5 mm, expanded PVC board up to 1.2 mm, polypropylene up to 1.2 mm, polycarbonate up to 0.6 mm, varnish blankets.
Bevel Cut Tool
A short, stable knife that cuts at 45 degrees. Good for V-grooves in rigid materials and clean fold lines in solid board. The 45-degree angle gives packaging a finished look without secondary processing.
Best for: Deco felt, rubber, solid board, papercore boards, corrugated board.
Corrugated Tool
Patented wheels press the material down as the tool moves through it, producing a smooth, die-cut-like finish. Built for speed without sacrificing edge quality on packaging stock.
Best for: Corrugated board up to 8 mm, folding carton 400-700 gsm, B/C/E/F/EB/EE flute, gray board, display board, solid board up to 3 mm.
Creasing Tools
Several creasing wheels available, each with different depth and radius configurations. Used for folding and scoring — clean creases without tearing the material. Multiple SKUs for different material types and thicknesses.
Best for: Corrugated B/C/A/EE/BC flute (1.5-6 mm), paper under 200 gsm, folding carton 300-500 gsm, polypropylene sheets up to 1.2 mm.
V-Cut Tools
Available in five angles (0 to 45 degrees). Cuts V-shaped grooves in rigid sandwich and foam composite boards so the material folds cleanly. Fast blade changes, precise angle adjustment. Maximum depth 27 mm depending on material density.
Best for: Honeycomb board, foamcore with paper liner, papercore board, display board.
Electronic Oscillating Tool (EOT)
An electric motor drives the blade at up to 12,000 rpm over a 1 mm stroke. Handles soft to medium-density materials with speed and low maintenance.
Best for: Corrugated BC/B/C/E flute up to 10 mm, foamcore up to 10 mm, honeycomb board up to 10 mm, gaskets.
Pneumatic Oscillating Tool (POT)
Compressed air drives the blade over an 8 mm stroke, much longer than the EOT, built for thicker and more rigid material. Cuts up to 25 mm.
Best for: Corrugated board, packaging foam, honeycomb board 10 mm or greater, papercore board, foamboard with plastic liner, rubber.
Pneumatic Oscillating Tool, Long (POT-L)
An extended version of the POT with a longer knife for thick, soft foams. Minimum thickness 20 mm, maximum 42 mm.
Best for: Packaging foam over 20 mm, honeycomb board, papercore board, rubber.
Perforating Tool
Creates clean perforation lines up to 25 times faster than the EOT. Perforated material folds and bends with sharp 90-degree edges, useful for box assembly where speed and presentation both matter.
Best for: Folding carton, corrugated board, polypropylene film.

Routing Modules
Two options for rigid materials that other tools can't touch: Standard and High-Frequency
The routing modules handle rigid materials; acrylics, wood, MDF, aluminum composite. Both accept a range of router bits. The right bit size depends on material thickness and the level of detail required. Flatbed Tools supplies router bits for all F-Series cutting systems. Shop router bits →
Standard Routing Module
1400W motor, 25,000 RPM
Built to tackle the broad range of rigid materials common in sign and graphics production. Smooth, precise cutting performance handles everything from hard foam PVC and acrylic to aluminum composite boards, wood, and MDF.
Capabilities: Routing, engraving, and polishing. Optional dust extraction kit available for clean operation.
Best for: Corrugated PP board, expanded PVC, polycarbonate, MDF, Plexi/acrylic, ACP/ACM (aluminum composite panel), foamcore with PVC liner.
High-Frequency Routing Module
High-frequency spindle - higher speeds, superior edge finishing
Built for high-production environments processing tough, rigid materials quickly and efficiently. The high-frequency spindle delivers exceptional performance and superior edge finishing. When throughput and edge quality both matter, this is the module.
The bit is pneumatically controlled and swaps fast. Optional dust extraction available.
Best for: Same material range as the Standard module, with higher throughput and finer edge quality. Preferred for acrylics, wood, and plastics requiring a polished finish.
Router Bits for Summa F-Series
Flatbed Tools stocks router bits compatible with both the Standard and High-Frequency routing modules. Use a larger diameter bit for faster material removal, a smaller diameter for finer detail work. Keep bit length as close as possible to your material thickness to reduce vibration and extend bit life.

High Torque Rotary Module
The only way to cut textiles cleanly on a flatbed vacuum table
Textiles don't hold well on a vacuum table. They're porous, they shift, and a standard blade drags the material instead of cutting it. The High Torque Rotary Module solves this by rotating the blade through the material rather than dragging it, which keeps horizontal force low and the material in place.
The motor-driven rotary blade handles everything from lightweight woven polyester to thick banner fabric. Clean, accurate cuts on materials that would shift or tear with any other cutting approach.
Best for: Woven polyester, laminated textiles, canvas, fleece, technical textiles, banner fabrics, synthetic textiles.
Rotary blade reduces drag
The blade spins rather than slides, minimizing horizontal force. That's the main reason textiles shift during cutting.
Motor-driven for reliability
Electronic motor delivers consistent rotational power across all textile types, including tougher substrates like banner material.
Works on porous materials
Even extremely porous fabrics that provide minimal vacuum grip can be processed cleanly with the rotary module.
The High Torque Rotary Module can be added to any F-Series cutter at any time. If textile cutting is part of your current or future production, it's worth configuring for it now.
