Direct OEM replacement

The K102s is a confirmed fit for the Zünd Z102 (5219049). Same form, same fit, same geometry. Drop it into your existing holder without modification and get back to cutting. Not sure whether this blade covers your specific machine or configuration? Reach out before you order. We will tell you straight.

What is through cutting?

Through cutting means the blade cuts completely through all layers of the material, including any backing or liner. The cut piece separates fully from the sheet. This is the right blade for applications where the finished piece needs to come completely free from the stock. If you are trying to cut the face material only while leaving a liner intact, that is a kiss cut application and requires a different blade geometry.

Fine grain tungsten carbide

The K102s edge is ground from fine grain tungsten carbide. On the cutting floor, that matters because carbide holds an edge significantly longer than tool steel and handles abrasive materials that would dull a standard blade fast. Sandblasting mask, carpet, and honeycomb are hard on edges. Carbide keeps the cut sharp longer, which means more cuts per shift and fewer blade changes breaking up production.

Common questions

How do I know this fits my machine?

The K102s replaces the Zünd Z102 (5219049) directly. If your machine currently runs a Z102, this is the blade. Running a Colex, Esko, Gerber / MCT, Multicam, Summa, or Zund system and not certain which blade matches your configuration? Get in touch before ordering. We would rather take two minutes to confirm the fit than have you order the wrong blade.

What materials does it cut?

The K102s handles through cutting on corrugated board, foamboard, folding carton, felt, leather, display board, carpet, sandwich board, honeycomb, sandblasting mask, PET acoustic felt, varnish blankets, 3M VHB, Zintra, and Fsorb. For thinner materials where you need to cut the face only and leave the liner intact, a kiss cut blade will get you better results. Not sure which geometry fits your application? Contact us and we will help you dial it in.

What is the maximum cutting depth?

The K102s has a maximum cutting depth of 0.314 inches (8.0mm). If your material stack runs deeper than that, this is not the right blade for that job. Contact us before ordering if you are working with thicker stock and we can point you to the right option.

How do I know when to replace it?

Cut quality is the clearest signal. Edges dragging instead of releasing cleanly, corners tearing, or material not separating the way it should all mean the blade needs replacing. A worn blade will also show in slower cut speeds and higher pressure requirements. There is no fixed cut count that applies across all materials and speeds. When the cut quality tells you something is off, swap it.

Getting the most from your cutting table

A fresh blade is a good start. But if you are going through blades faster than expected, or cut quality has become inconsistent, the blade is rarely the whole story. Cut depth, speed, pressure, and machine condition all affect how long a blade lasts and how clean it cuts.

It is worth asking: When was your machine last serviced? Are your parameters dialed in for this material? Is this the right blade geometry for what you are cutting? Could your operators use time with someone who runs these machines every day?

Flatbed Tools offers machine service, preventive maintenance, operator training, and workflow consulting. If something is not cutting right, reach out. We have probably seen it before.
